Dr. McDonald has devoted his life to dentistry and the improvement of knowledge in the field of dentistry. In addition to his private practice which began in Athens in 1985, Dr. McDonald lectures frequently throughout the country in the areas of restorative dentistry, esthetics, occlusion (the functional interaction of the teeth), and TMJ therapy.

Dr. McDonald is a graduate of Athens Academy, the University of Georgia and received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry in 1983. Dr. McDonald’s practice is dedicated to comprehensive oral health care. We are a general dentistry practice although; our primary focus is treating adults who have complex dental problems and esthetic dental concerns. During the consultation, he welcomes any questions and concerns his patients might have in order to determine a long-term strategy for optimum health, function, and esthetics.

Dr. McDonald is a member of many local, national, and international dental organizations. He has served on the faculty of oral rehabilitation at the Augusta University Dental College of Georgia (formerly Medical College of Georgia) since 1983. He has received many honors in the field of dentistry including distinguished alumnus of the Medical College of Georgia, fellowship in the American College of Dentists, honorable fellowship in the Georgia Dental Association, fellowship in the International College of Dentists, and membership in the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry.

A dedicated clinician and teacher, he serves as an opinion leader for several dental manufacturers, publishes technique articles and webinars, and serves on the editorial review board of the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry.

Dr. McDonald and his wife Alice have been married since 1981 (second year of dental school). They are proud parents of two amazing daughters, two wonderful sons-in-law, and three entertaining grandchildren. In his limited spare time, Dr. McDonald is an avid outdoorsman, flyfisherman, and cyclist.
